Zinaida Turchyna is a retired Ukrainian handball player who competed for the Soviet Union in major international tournaments from 1973–1988. Coached by her husband Igor Turchin, she won three Olympic and five world championship medals. Named the best female handball player of the 20th century in 2000, she later took over coaching positions at Spartak Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team after her husband’s death in 1993. Turchyna retired from coaching in 1996 but continues to work as the manager of Spartak Kyiv.
