Piper Sr. was an American aviation and oil industry businessman, known as “the Henry Ford of aviation.” He founded the Piper Aircraft Corporation in 1929, overseeing its growth into a global aerospace manufacturing power. Prior to this, he served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War and World War I, accumulating a total of 18 years in the military. Piper transitioned to investing in the oil industry before entering the aviation sector, where he achieved significant success and was posthumously inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
