William Brown, also known as Guillermo Brown or Almirante Brown, was an Irish sailor, merchant, and naval commander who played a significant role in the Argentine Navy during the early 19th century. He achieved notable successes in the Argentine War of Independence, the Cisplatine War, and the Anglo-French blockade of the Río de la Plata. As the creator and first admiral of Argentina’s maritime forces, Brown is revered as a national hero and is often referred to as the “father of the Argentine Navy.”
