He achieved notable successes in the Argentine War of Independence, the Cisplatine War, and the Anglo-French blockade of the Río de la Plata. As the creator and first admiral of Argentina’s maritime forces, Brown is revered as a national hero and is often referred to as the “father of the Argentine Navy.”
