Uzodinma Iweala is a Nigerian-American author, medical doctor, and CEO of The Africa Center in Harlem, New York. He gained recognition for his debut novel “Beasts of No Nation,” which explores the life of a child soldier in an unnamed African country. The book was well-received and later adapted into an award-winning film. Iweala has also authored “Our Kind of People,” a non-fiction book focusing on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nigeria, and “Speak No Evil,” a novel that follows the experiences of a gay Nigerian-American boy named Niru.
