Ulf Béla Timmermann is a German former shot putter known for breaking the world record multiple times in the 1980s. He was the first person to ever throw over 23 meters, a feat achieved in 1988. Timmermann won gold at the 1988 Olympics and represented Germany at the 1992 Olympics. He is considered the farthest thrower in shot put history using the glide technique, having surpassed 22 meters in 16 different competitions. Timmermann retired from competition after the 1992 Olympics.
