Tōgō Heihachirō, a revered admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy, served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet during the Russo-Japanese War. He strategically confined the Russian Pacific naval forces to Port Arthur and achieved a significant victory at Tsushima. Western journalists dubbed him “the Nelson of the East” due to his exceptional leadership. Today, Tōgō is celebrated as a national hero in Japan, with many shrines and streets dedicated to his honor.
