Tamara Faye Messner, also known as Tammy Faye Bakker, was an American evangelist who co-founded the televangelist program The PTL Club with her husband Jim Bakker in 1974. She was a recording artist and known for her eccentric and glamorous persona. Messner supported the LGBT community and reached out to HIV/AIDS patients during the AIDS epidemic. She wrote three autobiographies. After Jim Bakker’s legal issues, she divorced him and later married Roe Messner. Messner battled colon cancer before her passing in 2007.
