Despite facing challenges such as a retina disease, he made a strong comeback after surgery. Sun’s career reached a climax when he won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Although he faced disappointment in missing the Atlanta Olympics, he continued to excel in competitions until his retirement in 2001. Following his retirement, Sun transitioned into coaching roles, contributing his expertise to both the national and provincial diving teams.
