Stephen Lewis is a distinguished Canadian politician, public speaker, broadcaster, and diplomat. He led the Ontario New Democratic Party in the 1970s and later became a prominent broadcaster on CBC Radio and Citytv. Serving as Canada’s United Nations ambassador, he worked with UN agencies in the 1990s. In the 2000s, Lewis was the United Nations’ special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa. He was invested into the Order of Canada in 2003 and is currently a distinguished visiting professor at Toronto Metropolitan University.
