Stanford White was a prominent American architect recognized for his contributions as part of the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White. He focused on designing residences for affluent clients and developed various civic, institutional, and religious structures. White’s design approach aligned with the “American Renaissance” style. Among his noteworthy projects was the Washington Square Arch. Unfortunately, White was fatally shot in 1906 by Harry Kendall Thaw, an unstable heir fixated on White’s rumored relationship with Thaw’s wife, during a musical performance at Madison Square Garden.
