Simona Păuca, a retired Romanian artistic gymnast, gained recognition for her outstanding performance at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She won a gold medal in the balance beam event, where she and her teammate, Ecaterina Szabo, wowed the audience with their challenging and innovative routine. Păuca also contributed to her team’s success by helping them secure a gold medal and earned a bronze medal in the all-around competition. After retiring from competitive gymnastics, she transitioned into coaching and dedicated her time to training young athletes at her hometown club, Dinamo București.
