Simo Häyhä, famously known as The White Death, was a Finnish military sniper who served during World War II in the 1939–1940 Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. Using a Finnish M/28-30 rifle and a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, Häyhä was able to eliminate over 500 enemy soldiers, solidifying his reputation as one of the deadliest snipers in history. His wartime experiences and accomplishments were detailed in his memoir, Sotamuistoja, which he wrote shortly after being wounded in the Winter War.
