Sheikh Anwarul Haq was a Pakistani jurist and academic who served as the 9th Chief Justice of Pakistan. Educated as an economist, he began his career in the civil service and later became a judge in the Sindh High Court. He was nominated to the Supreme Court in 1962 and later appointed as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. Known for his judicial conservative leanings, he played a significant role in high-profile cases such as the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto trial and the War Enquiry Commission. Anwarul Haq resigned from his position as Chief Justice of Pakistan due to his refusal to sign the PCO introduced by General Zia-ul-Haq.
