Birthdate: 1485 AD
Birthplace: Venice, Italy
Died: June 21, 1547
Sebastiano del Piombo was an Italian painter recognized for merging the color palette of the Venetian school with the monumental forms of the Roman school. After relocating from Venice to Rome in 1511, he played a vital role in both artistic circles. A close associate of Michelangelo, Sebastiano focused on painting portraits and religious scenes in oils rather than undertaking extensive fresco projects. Although his output was restricted due to his responsibilities as piombatore, his impact on fellow artists was limited by the absence of prominent students and widespread circulation of his art.
