Scott Niedermayer is a Canadian former ice hockey defenceman and current special assignment coach of the Anaheim Ducks. He played over 1,000 games in the NHL for the New Jersey Devils and Anaheim Ducks, winning four Stanley Cups. He was named the NHL’s top defenceman in 2003–04 and the most valuable player of the playoffs in 2007. Niedermayer is a member of the Triple Gold Club, having won the Stanley Cup, a World Championship, and Olympic gold medals. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defencemen in NHL history.
