Standing at 5 ft 6+1⁄2 in and weighing 185 lb, he competed in various weight classes from lightweight to heavyweight. Langford achieved victories over numerous world champions, establishing himself as one of the finest fighters in boxing history. Despite facing racial barriers that prevented him from competing for the World Championship, he held the World Colored Heavyweight title and was recognized as an honorary world champion by the WBC.
