Saint Veronica, also known as Berenike, was a widow living in Jerusalem in the 1st century AD according to Christian sacred tradition. Veronica is known for her act of compassion towards Jesus as he carried the cross to Calvary, offering him her veil to wipe his forehead. This gesture resulted in the miraculous imprint of Jesus’ face on the veil, which became the revered relic known as the Veil of Veronica.
