Saint Cyril(Theologian)

Birthdate: 0826 AD
Birthplace: Thessaloniki, Greece
Died: February 4, 0869
Saint Cyril and his brother Saint Methodius were Byzantine Christian theologians and missionaries recognized as the “Apostles to the Slavs”. They created the Glagolitic alphabet to write Old Church Slavonic, allowing them to spread Christianity among the Slavic populations. Their legacy of missionary work was carried on by their students after their passing, resulting in their canonization as saints in the Eastern Orthodox Church. Pope Leo XIII established their feast day in the Roman Catholic Church, and Pope John Paul II designated them co-patron saints of Europe.
