Sabiha Gökçen was a pioneering Turkish aviator with an impressive flight career. She logged around 8,000 hours in the air and took part in 32 military operations. Notably, she made history as the world’s first female fighter pilot at the age of 23. Recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records, she was also chosen as the sole female pilot for the “The 20 Greatest Aviators in History” poster by the United States Air Force. Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul is named in her honor.
