He was the first American athlete to run the half marathon in under an hour. Hall is also distinguished for being the sole American to complete a marathon in under 2:05, accomplished at the 2011 Boston Marathon. Additionally, he emerged victorious in the marathon at the 2008 United States Olympic trials and secured tenth place in the Olympic marathon in Beijing.
