Roy Cohn was an influential American lawyer and prosecutor known for serving as Senator Joseph McCarthy’s chief counsel during the Army–McCarthy hearings in 1954. He gained recognition for his role in prosecuting Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, leading to their execution in 1953. Cohn later became a prominent political fixer in New York City and represented and mentored Donald Trump during his early business career. Despite his early successes, his reputation suffered in the late 1950s to late 1970s, and he was ultimately disbarred for unethical conduct before passing away from AIDS-related complications.
