Roy Ayers is a highly influential American vibraphonist, record producer, and composer known for his significant impact on jazz-funk and the acid jazz movement. Starting out as a post-bop jazz musician with Atlantic Records, he later shifted to Polydor Records in the 1970s. Referred to as “The Godfather of Neo Soul,” Ayers is celebrated for his notable compositions, such as “Everybody Loves the Sunshine,” “Lifeline,” and “No Stranger To Love.” He also holds the record for having more sampled hits by rappers than any other artist.
