Robert Doisneau was a renowned French photographer celebrated for capturing the essence of Paris street life in the 1930s. He was a key figure in humanist photography and a pioneer of photojournalism, working alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson. One of his most famous works is the 1950 photograph “Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville,” showing a couple kissing on a bustling Parisian street. In recognition of his contributions to photography, he was awarded the title of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1984 by French president François Mitterrand.
