Van Looy achieved an impressive total of 367 professional road victories, placing him second in the all-time rankings behind Eddy Merckx. Throughout his career, he engaged in fierce sporting rivalries with cycling icons Rik Van Steenbergen and Eddy Merckx, despite facing numerous falls and injuries.
