Richard Allen Garriott is a well-known video game developer, entrepreneur, and private astronaut who was born in Britain and is now based in the United States. He is best known for creating the influential Ultima game series, having been involved in all eleven main installments. In 2009, Garriott established the video game development company Portalarium and served as CEO and creative director for Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues until 2018. Additionally, he undertook a space mission aboard the Soyuz TMA-13 to the International Space Station in 2008 as a private astronaut, making him the second space traveler with a parent who was also an astronaut.
