Richard Daniel “Dick” Bass was an American businessman, rancher, and mountaineer famous for owning Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah. He made history as the first person to climb the “Seven Summits,” the tallest mountain on each continent. In 1985, Bass summited Mount Everest at age 55, becoming the oldest person to do so at that time. His mountaineering achievements, which included setting records and milestones, established him as a legendary figure in the climbing community.
