Ray Reardon, a Welsh professional snooker player, was a dominant figure in the sport during the 1970s. He won the World Snooker Championship six times and various other professional titles. Reardon started his career as a coal miner and later as a police officer before becoming a professional player in 1967. He was the first player to hold the title of “world number one” when world rankings were introduced and maintained that position for several years. Reardon retired in 1991 after mentoring younger players and achieving significant milestones in snooker history.
