Princess Cecilie of Greece and Denmark became the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine through her marriage to Prince Georg Donatus. She and her husband joined the Nazi Party in May 1937. Tragically, she lost her life in 1937 when the aircraft she was traveling in crashed near Ostend, claiming the lives of all passengers, including Cecilie and her family.
