Piers John Sellers, a British-American meteorologist and former NASA astronaut, served as the Director of the Earth Science Division at NASA/GSFC. He studied at Cranbrook School in the UK and earned a bachelor’s degree in ecological science from the University of Edinburgh, as well as a doctorate in biometeorology from the University of Leeds. During his time at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Sellers focused on research concerning the interaction between the Earth’s biosphere and atmosphere. His work involved climate system computer modeling and field research using various technologies. Sellers retired from the NASA Astronaut Corps in 2011.
