Peter Šťastný, also known as “Peter the Great” and “Stosh,” is a former professional ice hockey player from Slovakia who later became a Canadian citizen. He played in the NHL from 1980 to 1995, achieving the second-highest scoring record of the 1980s after Wayne Gretzky. Šťastný also had a successful political career, serving as a Member of the European Parliament for Slovakia. During his NHL career, he played for the Quebec Nordiques, New Jersey Devils, and St. Louis Blues. Šťastný was honored with inductions into both the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998 and the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2017, he was recognized as one of the ‘100 Greatest NHL Players’ in history.
