Richard Oliver Postgate was a renowned English animator, puppeteer, and writer famous for creating and writing some of Britain’s most cherished children’s television programs. Alongside collaborator Peter Firmin, he co-founded Smallfilms, which produced iconic shows like Bagpuss, Pingwings, Noggin the Nog, Ivor the Engine, Clangers, and Pogles’ Wood. Originally aired by the BBC from the 1950s to the 1980s, these programs gained widespread popularity and have endured the test of time. In fact, Bagpuss was voted the most beloved children’s TV program in a 1999 BBC poll.
