Throughout his career, Massú claimed six singles titles and reached the final of the 2003 Madrid Masters. After retiring from playing, he successfully transitioned to coaching and notably guided Dominic Thiem to victory at the 2020 US Open, helping him achieve a career-best ranking of world No. 3.
