Miroslav Tichý, a Czech photographer, was known for capturing surreptitious images of women in Kyjov, Czech Republic, using homemade cameras crafted from everyday materials. Working from the 1960s to 1985, his soft-focus and imperfect photographs offered fleeting glimpses of his subjects. Despite intentional technical flaws, Tichý’s work was lauded for its poetic essence. Living as a dissident under the Communist regime, he led a reclusive life, avoiding fame and societal norms. Tichý’s photography remained relatively undiscovered until a retrospective exhibition in 2004.
