Mildred Dilling, a renowned American harpist, began performing in 1911 and traveled extensively throughout her career, covering over 30,000 miles per year at her peak. She studied under Henriette Renié in Paris, performed alongside notable vocalists, hosted a weekly NBC radio show, and was featured on the Bing Crosby radio show. Dilling toured Europe and Asia multiple times, conducted harp lessons for celebrities like Harpo Marx, and co-founded the American Harp Society in 1962. She also invented a lever system for non-pedal harps, increasing their portability and tuning flexibility. Her harp collection is now partially held by Indiana University, and her music compilations are still used by harp students.
