Michael Lynagh, an Australian rugby union player, was recognized for his skills in both inside centre and fly half positions. He played for Australia from 1984 to 1995, earning 72 caps and captaining the team from 1993 to 1995. Lynagh held the world points scoring record with 911 points at the time of his retirement. He was a key player in the 1984 Grand Slam-winning team and served as vice-captain during Australia’s 1991 World Cup victory. Lynagh scored in every test match he played until Marty Roebuck took over kicking duties. He retired after Australia’s loss to England in the 1995 Rugby World Cup quarter-final.
