Maurren Higa Maggi is a Brazilian retired track and field athlete and Olympic gold medallist. She holds the South American records in the 100 metres hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. Maurren faced a doping scandal in 2003 but attributed it to an anti-scarring gel sheet she used. She was suspended for two years, missing out on the 2003 Pan American Games. Maurren’s career highlights include being the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport and finishing second in the 2009 Troféu Brasil Caixa de Atletismo.
