Mary Tudor was briefly married to King Louis XII of France before marrying Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, without her brother Henry VIII’s consent. The marriage was arranged by Thomas Wolsey and pardoned by Henry after a fine was paid. Mary and Suffolk had four children together, including a daughter who later became the maternal grandmother of Lady Jane Grey, who briefly served as Queen of England in 1553.
