William Mark Felt Sr. was a prominent American law enforcement officer with the FBI for more than 30 years. He climbed the ranks to eventually become the Bureau’s Deputy Director, the second-highest position. Felt worked in different FBI field offices before his headquarters promotion. He gained fame as “Deep Throat,” the undisclosed informant who shared crucial information with journalists during the Watergate scandal, which ultimately led to President Nixon’s resignation. Felt also wrote two memoirs, and his FBI personnel file and other documents were released after his passing.
