Marina Mikhaylovna Raskova was the first woman in the Soviet Union to become a professional air navigator. She began her career as an opera singer before transitioning to a military instructor and eventually becoming the Soviet Union’s first female navigator. Raskova led groundbreaking flights and established the 587th Bomber Aviation Regiment, which was later renamed in her honor. She played a vital role in the military by founding three female air regiments that made significant contributions to the World War II efforts and produced numerous Heroes of the Soviet Union.
