Marc Garneau is a retired Canadian Member of Parliament, former astronaut, and naval officer. He served as a Cabinet minister for the Liberal Party from 2015 to 2021, holding roles including minister of foreign affairs and minister of transport. Before entering politics, Garneau was chosen as an astronaut in 1983 and became the first Canadian in space in 1984. Throughout his astronaut career, he took part in three Space Shuttle missions.
