Manuela Sáenz, an Ecuadorian revolutionary heroine, supported the cause through gathering information, distributing leaflets, and advocating for women’s rights. She was honored with the Order of the Sun for her revolutionary services. Sáenz played a significant role in political and military affairs in Lima, Peru, where she formed a close relationship with Simón Bolívar. She aided him in various ways and earned the title “Libertadora del libertador.” Sáenz is now recognized as a feminist symbol of the 19th-century wars of independence.
