Mabel Loomis Todd was an American editor and writer recognized for her role as the editor of posthumously published editions of Emily Dickinson’s poetry and letters. In addition to this, she wrote several novels, travel books with her husband astronomer David Peck Todd, and co-authored an astronomy textbook. Todd’s career was notable for her controversial revisions to Dickinson’s poetry, such as altering words, punctuation, and capitalization to fit 19th-century norms and giving titles to poems that were previously untitled.
