Luz Long was a German Olympic long jumper who won a silver medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He had a notable friendship with Jesse Owens, the gold medalist in the same event. Long was a successful athlete, winning the German long jump championship six times between 1933 and 1939. Unfortunately, Long passed away while serving in the German Army during World War II.
