Louis Wain, an English artist, gained recognition for his anthropomorphised cat illustrations. Starting his career as an illustrator in 1881, he transitioned to full-time illustration in 1882. Wain created numerous drawings and paintings each year for different publications, including his annual publication. His work was featured on postcards and in advertisements. Additionally, Wain briefly dabbled in ceramics and animated cartoons. Despite his widespread acclaim and high productivity, he did not amass great wealth, potentially because of selling his work inexpensively and giving up copyright.
