Lauri Allan Törni, also known as Larry Alan Thorne, served as a soldier under three flags during his career. He began as a Finnish Army officer, achieving the rank of captain during the Winter War and Continuation War. Törni then fought on the Eastern Front in World War II as a Waffen-SS captain with the Finnish Volunteer Battalion. Later, he served as a United States Army Major in the Vietnam War as part of the U.S. Army Special Forces. Tragically, he lost his life in a helicopter crash during a covert mission in Laos.
