Larisa Peleshenko, a former Russian shot putter, had a successful career in international competitions. She won the Olympic silver medal in 2000 and multiple European Indoor silver medals. Despite a four-year drugs ban in 1995, she persevered and won the 2001 Indoor Championships. Peleshenko also placed fourth at the World Championships in 2001 before retiring from the sport at the end of that season.
