Konrad Zuse, a German civil engineer, computer scientist, inventor, and businessman, is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to computer technology. In 1941, he developed the world’s first programmable computer, the Z3, which laid the foundation for modern computers. Zuse’s innovative work also led to the creation of the S2 computing machine, the first process control computer. Additionally, he established a computer business that produced the Z4, the first commercial computer worldwide. Zuse’s accomplishments extended to designing the first high-level programming language, Plankalkül, and proposing the concept of a computation-based universe in his book Rechnender Raum.
