Katsutoshi Nekoda was a celebrated Japanese volleyball player recognized for his remarkable talent as a setter. He competed for Japan in four Olympics, guiding the national team to numerous medals, including a gold in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Nekoda introduced the innovative ceiling serve technique, which made a significant impact on the sport. Following a successful career, he retired in 1980 and passed away in 1983. In honor of his significant contributions to volleyball, he was posthumously inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2023.
