John Silas Reed was an American journalist, poet, and communist activist celebrated for his reporting during the Mexican Revolution, World War I, and the October Revolution in Russia. His book “Ten Days That Shook the World” gained global acclaim. Reed backed the Soviet regime in Russia, engaged with the Red Guards, and helped establish the Communist Labor Party of America. He passed away in Moscow in 1920 and was given a hero’s burial by the Soviet Union.
