John O. Brennan is a former American intelligence officer who served as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2013 to 2017. He was the chief counterterrorism advisor to President Barack Obama and held various roles advising on foreign policy and intelligence matters. Brennan’s career at the CIA spanned 25 years, including roles as a Near East and South Asia analyst, station chief in Saudi Arabia, and director of the National Counterterrorism Center. After leaving government service, he worked in security consulting and served as chairman of a professional intelligence association. Brennan has also been a national security and intelligence analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.
